Rolls-Royce or Bentley: Which One to Rent in Dubai

Bentley is the lower-priced car to drive yourself: the Bentayga starts at AED 2 000 a day. Rolls-Royce is the statement car, from AED 3 000 a day for the Ghost. Here is how to choose between them, model by model, with the rental terms.

Which one to rent

If you plan to drive yourself and want the lower daily rate, take a Bentley. The Bentayga is the cheapest way into either badge at AED 2 000 a day, and the Continental GT and GTC sit a step above it. If the car itself is the point of the trip, or you want the back seat to be the best seat, take a Rolls-Royce: the Ghost is the cheapest Rolls-Royce at AED 3 000 a day and the Cullinan is AED 3 490; the Spectre and Wraith are priced higher still, as the table below shows.

Both brands are delivered anywhere in Dubai. Prices below are the 1–2 day rate unless stated otherwise; they drop on longer bookings, by more on some cars than others.

Verdict

Bentley if you’re driving yourself. Rolls-Royce if the car is the occasion and the back seat is the best seat. Both are delivered wherever you’re staying in Dubai.

Are Rolls-Royce and Bentley the same company

No. Bentley went to Volkswagen in 1998 and the Rolls-Royce name moved to BMW in January 2003, though the two badges spent most of the twentieth century under one owner. Rolls-Royce bought Bentley in 1931, when Bentley was close to bankruptcy, and the two marques were sold together to the industrial group Vickers in 1980.

Vickers put the car business up for sale in 1997, and the split happened in July 1998: Volkswagen bought the Bentley brand and the Crewe factory, along with the right to use the Rolls-Royce name only until the end of 2002. The Rolls-Royce name and logo themselves had never been part of that sale: they belonged to the aircraft engine maker Rolls-Royce plc, which licensed them to BMW instead.

From January 2003, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has been a BMW Group marque, built at Goodwood in England, and Bentley has remained a Volkswagen Group brand, built at Crewe. Related history, separate companies today.

Two different ideas of luxury

Rolls-Royce builds around isolation. The engines are a twin-turbo V12 in the Cullinan, Ghost and Wraith, or an electric drivetrain in the Spectre, and the point in every case is to filter the road out rather than let you feel it. The cars are set up for rear-seat theatre first: a quiet cabin, a smooth ride, and, on the Ghost, Wraith and Spectre, coach doors that open from the rear hinge, a Rolls-Royce signature. This is a car you arrive in.

Bentley is built to be driven. The Continental GT and GTC are grand tourers in the literal sense: engineered to cover distance quickly and quietly at the same time, with steering that gives the driver more feedback than a Rolls-Royce does. The Bentayga follows the same idea in an SUV body. None of this is about outright pace. It’s about a badge that draws less attention in Dubai traffic than a Rolls-Royce does, and a driving position that’s meant to be used, not just occupied.

Neither approach is objectively better. The choice is really about who’s going to be behind the wheel for most of the rental.

The Rolls-Royce cars in the fleet

Three cars here, plus the Spectre in its own section next. The Cullinan is the SUV, the Ghost is the saloon, and the Wraith is the coupe.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan

Black Rolls-Royce Cullinan Black Badge parked on a tree-lined Dubai street

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is the SUV of the two brands here, available in black and white, plus Black Badge versions in black, white and Nardo Grey. It suits a reader who wants SUV height and presence at the front door without giving up the rear-seat comfort the badge is built around.

AED 3 490 a day for 1–2 days, AED 2 590 on 30 days and over. 0–100 km/h in about 5 seconds, from a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 rated at 571 PS (600 PS for the Black Badge). Minimum age 25, minimum five years of licence experience.

Rolls-Royce Ghost

The Rolls-Royce Ghost is the saloon, and the entry point to the Rolls-Royce range: AED 3 000 a day for 1–2 days, AED 2 300 on 30 days and over. 0–100 km/h in about 4.8 seconds, 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12, 571 PS. Minimum age 25, minimum five years of licence experience. The rest of the Rolls Royce range is on the brand page.

Rolls-Royce Wraith

The Wraith is the coupe, finished in Salamanca Blue in the fleet. Its rates are in the price table below. 0–100 km/h in 4.6 seconds from a 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12, 624 PS. Minimum age 25, minimum five years of licence experience.

Helpful tip

All three cars above ask for the same eligibility: 25 years old with at least five years on your licence. The Spectre in the next section keeps that same requirement.

The electric one, Rolls-Royce Spectre

The Spectre is the only electric car of the two brands in this fleet, at AED 7 600 a day for 1–2 days and AED 5 100 on 30 days and over. Minimum age 25, minimum five years of licence experience. The fleet car is a Black Badge specification in Imperial Jade.

Renting it day to day means no engine noise at all, even under hard acceleration, and no stop for fuel: charging replaces the petrol station. Ask the team how charging and the charge level at return work for your booking before you collect the car. Rolls-Royce built the Spectre as a two-door coupe with coach doors, so the whole side of the car opens away from you when you get in, the marque’s own signature applied to its first electric model.

This first-drive review of the standard Spectre covers the car in more depth than a spec sheet can (the fleet car is the Black Badge version):

The Bentley cars in the fleet

Four cars here: the Bentley Bentayga and Bentayga S are SUVs, the Continental GT is the coupe (with convertible versions as well), and the Continental GTC is the convertible.

Bentley Bentayga and Bentayga S

Black Bentley Bentayga S under a Dubai overpass

Both cars in the fleet are black SUVs at the same price: AED 2 000 a day for 1–2 days and AED 1 800 on 30 days and over. The standard Bentayga and the Bentayga S both use a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and do 0–100 km/h in about 4.5 seconds. The difference that matters at booking is licence experience: five years for the Bentayga, three years for the Bentayga S. Minimum age is 25 for both.

Bentley Continental GT

Gold Bentley Continental GT coupe on a Dubai road with Burj Khalifa in the distance

The Continental GT is the coupe. The coupés and convertibles in blue, green, white, gold and grey cost AED 2 690 a day for 1–2 days and AED 1 290 on 30 days and over; the Continental GT White is AED 2 880 and AED 2 000. Minimum age 25, minimum five years of licence experience.

Bentley Continental GTC

Black Bentley Continental GTC convertible with the roof down on a palm-lined Dubai road

The GTC is the convertible, offered in two specifications, Azure and Mulliner, both black in the fleet and at the same price: AED 2 600 a day for 1–2 days, AED 1 820 on 30 days and over. Both use a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. Minimum age 25, minimum three years of licence experience, lower than most of the other cars in this comparison. If you’re specifically after a convertible, this is the model in the two-brand line-up.

Alex Shvarov
Helpful tip

Licence experience is the detail that trips people up on the Bentley side: the Bentayga and the Continental GT coupe need five years, while the Bentayga S and both Continental GTC specifications need only three.

How they drive

Both brands are quick, but the more useful difference is how the speed is delivered. A Rolls-Royce keeps you a step removed from what the car is doing underneath; that’s the point of it. A Bentley lets more of the road through the wheel, which is exactly what a grand tourer is meant to do, and it’s why a Continental GT feels like a car you’re driving rather than a car doing the driving for you, even though both brands isolate the cabin from noise.

This in-depth review of the 2019 Continental GT goes into that character in more detail than a spec sheet allows:

Price side by side

Every model, every tier, in one place.

Rolls-Royce and Bentley rental rates in Dubai, AED per day. Minimum age 25 on every car.

Rolls-Royce Ghost AED 3 000 AED 2 800 AED 2 500 AED 2 300
Rolls-Royce Spectre AED 7 600 AED 7 400 AED 6 900 AED 5 100
Rolls-Royce Wraith AED 7 600 AED 7 400 AED 6 900 AED 5 100
Bentley Bentayga and Bentayga S AED 2 000 AED 1 800 AED 1 800 AED 1 800

Bentley Continental GTC Azure and Mulliner AED 2 600 AED 2 500 AED 2 400 AED 1 820

Rates fall on longer rentals, by more on some cars than others, so compare the 1–2 day and 30+ day columns for the car you want. Long-term rental across the fleet can save up to 50 percent against the daily rate.

Alex Shvarov
Helpful tip

If you’re booking for a month or longer, ask about the monthly rate before assuming the daily figure applies: on several of these cars it is much lower.

Which one for which occasion in Dubai

A wedding or a hotel arrival on Palm Jumeirah calls for the car people notice: a Cullinan or a Ghost, both built around exactly that kind of entrance, with the rear seat doing the work.

A business week in DIFC or Downtown is a different job. Travelling with colleagues, the Ghost keeps the whole cabin quiet through a full day of meetings. If you’re driving yourself between appointments, a Continental GT does the same week without the Rolls-Royce’s price tag.

A family with luggage points straight at the Cullinan: it’s the only SUV among the Rolls-Royce cars here, and the extra load space matters more than the badge once suitcases are involved. The Bentayga does the same job for less per day if the trip doesn’t need the full Rolls-Royce experience.

A drive up the coast toward Abu Dhabi, staying within the UAE, is where the Continental GT’s grand-tourer character earns its keep: a car built to cover distance rather than just look good outside a hotel.

An evening with the roof down suits the Continental GTC, and it’s worth timing it to the season. From roughly November to March, Dubai’s daytime highs sit in the mid-twenties to low thirties Celsius, so the roof actually comes down; in summer they reach the high thirties and low forties, and the air conditioning wins.

Delivery reaches all of these areas, including Palm Jumeirah itself.

Alex Shvarov
Helpful tip

Whichever car fits the occasion, delivery reaches Palm Jumeirah, DIFC, Downtown and the rest of Dubai the same way, so the real choice comes down to the car, not the location.

Alex Shvarov, Automotive expert with over 15 years of experience

For a family or a group, the number of seats counts as much as the badge. Seats as listed on each car’s page:

Seats and body style of the Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars in the fleet.
Model Body Seats Best for
Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV 5 Family with luggage
Rolls-Royce Ghost Saloon 4 Business, arrivals
Rolls-Royce Wraith Coupe 2+2 Couples, short trips
Rolls-Royce Spectre Coupe, electric 4 Silent arrivals
Bentley Bentayga and Bentayga S SUV 5 Family, airport runs
Bentley Continental GT Coupe and convertible 4 (2+2) Coast drives
Bentley Continental GTC Convertible 2+2 Roof-down evenings

A third option: the Mercedes-Maybach S680

If the question is really «Rolls-Royce, Bentley, or Maybach», there’s a third car in the fleet worth knowing about: the Mercedes-Maybach S680, a saloon at AED 2 600 a day for 1–2 days and AED 2 400 on 30 days and over. It runs a 6.0-litre V12 rated at 612 PS, does 0–100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, and needs a minimum age of 25 with three years of licence experience. It is a V12 rear-seat saloon for a reader whose real question was never strictly Rolls-Royce versus Bentley. See the full Mercedes S-Class range for the rest of the line-up.

Renting either of them, the terms that actually apply

These cars come with no deposit and no hidden charges at pickup.

Basic insurance is included in the daily rate. The excess and what the cover excludes are set out in your rental agreement and in the rental terms; ask the team for the figure for your car before you sign. Any damage, including a scratch found while the car was parked and unattended, needs a Police Report before it can be processed. Extended insurance is available; its price is confirmed with the team when you book, not published here.

Alex Shvarov
Helpful tip

Ask about the excess amount for your specific car before booking: it varies by model, and it’s worth knowing before you sign, not after.

Alex Shvarov, Automotive expert with over 15 years of experience

Minimum age is 25 on every Rolls-Royce and every Bentley in this fleet. Minimum licence experience is five years on most of them (the Cullinan, Ghost, Wraith, Spectre, standard Bentayga and both Continental GT lines) and three years on the Bentayga S and both Continental GTC specifications. Check the figure against the specific car above before you book.

Tourists need a passport and a valid home-country licence; depending on the country that issued your licence, an International Driving Permit may also be required. Our team confirms what applies to your licence before you book. The UAE government portal explains the national rules for visitors. UAE residents need a UAE driving licence and an Emirates ID.

Tolls and fines are billed to the renter separately after the rental ends. Salik gates in Dubai cost AED 6.30 at peak hours and AED 4.20 off-peak and on Sundays (rates from June 2026), and Darb covers the Abu Dhabi tolls. Traffic fines are forwarded to the renter after the rental; you can also check them on the Dubai Police fines page. Fuel works full-to-full: the car leaves with a full tank and comes back full.

Each car has its own mileage limit, somewhere between 200 and 250 km per day, shown on the car’s own page; extra kilometres are charged separately. Delivery is free for rentals from AED 10,000, otherwise AED 185 across Dubai between 09:00 and 21:00 or AED 235 overnight, plus 5% VAT, and from AED 250 to Dubai International Airport. Handover takes about 20 minutes, and support runs 24/7.

If a car breaks down during the rental, contact us: we collect it and provide a replacement.

Is Bentley cheaper than Rolls-Royce in Dubai?

Yes, at the entry point. The cheapest Bentley in this fleet, the Bentayga, is AED 2 000 a day; the cheapest Rolls-Royce, the Ghost, is AED 3 000 a day. Higher up the range the two brands overlap, so the model matters more than the badge.

How much does it cost to rent a Rolls-Royce in Dubai?

From AED 3 000 a day for the Ghost, AED 3 490 for the Cullinan and AED 7 600 for the Spectre, all at the 1–2 day rate; the Wraith’s rates are in the price table above. Rates drop on longer rentals, by more on some cars than others.

Is Bentley owned by Rolls-Royce?

No. The two shared an owner until 1998, when Volkswagen bought Bentley and BMW took over the Rolls-Royce name and car business from 2003. They’ve been separate companies ever since.

Which is more luxurious, Rolls-Royce or Bentley?

They aim at different things rather than different amounts of the same thing. Rolls-Royce is built around isolation and rear-seat comfort; Bentley is built to be driven, with more involving steering and a quieter road presence. Neither is a lesser version of the other.

Can I rent a Rolls-Royce or Bentley without a deposit?

Yes. These cars come with no deposit. Basic insurance is included in the daily rate; the excess and exclusions are set out in your rental agreement.

What age do I need to be to rent one?

25, for every Rolls-Royce and every Bentley in this fleet. Minimum licence experience is five years on most models, and three years on the Bentayga S and both Continental GTC specifications.

What’s the difference between the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Bentley Bentayga?

Both are luxury SUVs: the Bentayga is AED 2 000 a day and the Cullinan AED 3 490. The Bentayga is the more involving car to drive; the Cullinan is built around the same rear-seat comfort as the rest of the Rolls-Royce range.

Is the Rolls-Royce Spectre worth renting over the Wraith?

Both are two-door Rolls-Royce coupes with their rates in the price table above. The Spectre is the only electric car of the two brands here, silent and coach-doored; the Wraith is the equivalent coupe with a twin-turbo V12. The choice comes down to whether you want the electric experience or the combustion one.
