Porsche 911 Targa
The 718 Spyder RS is built around a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six that revs to 9,000 rpm. At city speeds it produces a deep, metallic growl from the centrally mounted exhaust — a sound that transforms completely the moment you open the throttle. With 500 HP, a 7-speed PDK gearbox, and a kerb weight of just 1,410 kg, the car responds to driver input with an immediacy that few open-top sports cars can match. The cabin pairs carbon fibre trim with hand-stitched leather surfaces and a driver-focused cockpit that positions you low and close to the road. PASM adaptive damping reads the surface beneath you and adjusts continuously — firm and precise, yet surprisingly civil on city streets.
If you’ve ever wondered what a truly driver-focused open-top sports car feels like in daily use, the 718 Spyder RS is a definitive answer.
The Spyder RS is a roadster — no roof panel, just a lightweight soft cover. October through April, Dubai temperatures drop to 20–28°C, making open-air driving comfortable at any hour. In summer (May–September), plan your drive after 7 PM when the heat eases. The flat-six soundtrack at night on open coastal roads is a different experience entirely.
The Guards Red exterior, 500 HP, and a 3.4-second 0–100 km/h sprint deliver an arrival presence that larger GT cars simply cannot replicate. The car’s compact width of 1,801 mm and precise steering make it straightforward to place in tight valet situations.
The 718 Spyder RS carries one of the most recognisable silhouettes in the segment. Meydan Bridge, Sheikh Zayed Road at night, and the Dubai Frame area all offer strong architectural backdrops. The Guards Red finish reads exceptionally well on camera — both in daylight and under artificial light.
The PDK transmission and long-legged sixth and seventh gears make highway cruising efficient and composed. One thing worth knowing: Dubai operates a 20 km/h speed buffer above posted limits. Abu Dhabi does not — keep that in mind before you go.

Practical note on luggage: The 718 Spyder RS has a single storage compartment with approximately 120–150 litres of usable space. It fits one cabin-size suitcase (55×40×20 cm) plus a laptop bag, or two backpacks. If you’re arriving at DXB and heading straight from the airport, pack light or arrange hotel luggage storage in advance.
Low ride height advisory: Ground clearance is in the range of 100–120 mm. Approach steep ramps, aggressive speed bumps, and underground car park entrances slowly and at an angle. Most Dubai mall and hotel parking structures are compatible, but angled entry helps.
The 718 Spyder RS is 335 kg lighter than the Audi R8 Spyder. That weight difference is immediately felt in city traffic — the car turns in sharply, responds to small steering inputs, and feels more agile despite similar exterior dimensions. The R8 carries more mass at the front, which softens the steering slightly by comparison.
Against the F-Type R, the Porsche’s naturally aspirated flat-six delivers more linear power and a higher-revving character. The F-Type’s supercharged V8 produces more torque low down, but the 718 Spyder RS rewards deliberate driving and offers a cleaner mechanical connection between driver and road at all speeds. For anyone who values precision over brute force, that distinction matters.
