Mercedes G-Wagon (G63)
The 3.0L Inline-6 turbocharged engine runs almost silently at city pace — you genuinely hear little from inside the cabin. Press harder, and the engine note becomes assertive without ever crossing into intrusive. The 8-speed automatic shifts with enough composure that acceleration feels linear rather than staged. Adaptive Dynamics suspension absorbs Dubai’s occasional rough patches before they reach the cabin — speed bumps and poorly finished service roads simply disappear underfoot.
Inside, premium leather seating, soft-touch panels, and magnesium trim create an environment that feels considered rather than flashy. Nothing shouts. The Matte Black exterior gives the Defender 110 a presence that stands apart from glossy alternatives — authoritative without trying too hard. It works equally well pulling up to a DIFC valet stand or sitting in a hotel car park at midnight. That balance is harder to achieve than it looks.
The Matte Black finish and upright silhouette make an immediate impression at valet stands in DIFC, Downtown Dubai, and Business Bay. This is the vehicle that arrives and requires no explanation.
Five adults fit comfortably, and the boot handles 3–4 full-size suitcases with room to spare. No redistribution of luggage, no compromises on comfort for rear passengers.
Landing at DXB or DWC with multiple bags is a non-issue. The Defender absorbs the job without asking you to leave anything behind.
The matte exterior reads exceptionally well against Dubai’s architectural backdrops — City Walk facades, Meydan Bridge at dusk, the Burj Khalifa at night. The vehicle holds visual weight in any frame.
«
Practical note: The Defender 110 stands 1,967 mm tall.
Before entering underground car parks at certain hotels or business centres, confirm the height clearance at the entrance — typical Dubai structures allow 2.1–2.5 m, but some older facilities run lower.
The Mercedes G-Wagon is a statement vehicle — but it is the same statement everyone else makes. The Lexus GX rides noticeably harder over Dubai’s surfaces. The Defender 2024 sits between both: a modern interior, better ride compliance on unibody architecture, and a Matte Black finish that does not share its aesthetic with anyone else in the valet queue.
